# VR Equipment installation and configuration 

> This guide will walk you through setting up your VR headset, preparing your PC or workstation with the necessary software, and connecting the headset to launch the application.

  Skip this guide if you purchased your VR headset and PC through VitaSim, as we have pre-installed and set up your PC and headset for immediate use - unless otherwise arranged with your dedicated customer success manager.

## Introduction

Running the VR X-ray Simulator requires a **Meta Quest VR headset** and a **VR Ready PC or Laptop**.
When the equipment have been acquired, follow the below steps to setup your equipment.

## Setup your Meta Quest VR headset

    Create a Meta account on the [official Meta website](https://auth.meta.com)

    Download the Meta app to your phone from the [Android app store](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oculus.twilight\&hl=en) or the [Apple app store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/meta-quest/id1366478176)

  <Step title="Follow the setup instructions in the VR headset">
    Turn on the VR headset, mount it on your head and follow the setup instructions in the display. Keep your phone close, as there will be
    steps to perform on the phone.

## Setup your PC or workstation

You'll need two pieces of software to run the VR X-Ray Simulator. The VR **X-Ray Simulator** to run the simulation on
the pc/workstation and the **Meta Quest Link application** to connects the PC/workstation to the VR headset to display the simulation and get input from the controllers.

### Prerequisites before setup

* You need [hardware admin](https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/check-if-you-have-local-admin-rights-to-install-office-edc2f78a-e6b7-4041-917b-8136afb0a654) access rights on the PC/workstation before you can download and install the software.
* You will need your [Meta account](https://auth.meta.com).

  NOTICE for IT admins: The VR X-Ray Simulator support multi-user PC/workstation installation using MDM systems, like InTune.

### When you meet the Prerequisites follow these steps

    The VR X-Ray Simulator is available for download on the Download page. \
    Choose the newest version in your language.

      During the download and installation process, your browser or PC may alert you about "uncertified software." To proceed, click on "Advanced" or "Read more," then accept the risk to continue with the installation.

  <Step title="Download and install Meta Quest Link on the PC/workstation">
    Meta provides a companion application for its VR headsets that enables the VR headset to connect to your PC/workstation and display the VR X-Ray Simulator in the VR headset.

    Follow the setup and installation instructions. Login with your Meta account when prompted.

  <Step title="Adjust the Meta Quest Link settings">
    Open Meta Quest Link, go to **Settings** > **General**, enable **"Unknown Sources"** and ensure that **"OpenXR Runtime"** is set to **"Set Meta Quest Link as act..."**
