Important information for IT departments

The Windows Desktop and Windows VR X-ray Simulator now include dedicated managed deployment packages for V. 1.10.1. Use these packages when deploying through Microsoft Intune or another MDM system:

Use the .intunewin files for Microsoft Intune Win32 app deployments. Use the .msi files when your MDM platform supports MSI deployment directly. The standard .exe installers on the download page are still intended for interactive installs on individual machines.

Official silent install commands

This ensures:
  • Fully silent installation with no user interaction.
  • No system reboot after installation.
  • Verbose logging for troubleshooting in C:\Windows\Temp.

Installer behavior

The applications install by default to:
<platform> varies with the Desktop or VR version.
  • Installations should run in the device/system context.
  • Installation must be run with administrative privileges.
  • No license entry or additional configuration is required at install time.

Microsoft Intune setup

For Microsoft Intune, upload the matching .intunewin file as a Windows app (Win32). Recommended install commands:
Recommended app behavior:
  • Install behavior: System
  • Device restart behavior: No specific action
  • Assignment: target the device group used for the relevant lab, classroom, or training station pool.

Silent uninstallation (optional)

If a silent uninstall command is required, use the MSI uninstall command generated by your MDM platform. If you are uninstalling directly from a local MSI file, use:

Detection rule suggestions

If your MDM solution requires a detection rule to verify successful installation, use MSI product detection when available. File-based detection can also check for the relevant application executable. Desktop:

Notes

  • Administrative rights are necessary for both installation and uninstallation.
  • If needed, the install logs in C:\Windows\Temp can be reviewed to verify installation success or troubleshoot issues.
  • If you are upgrading machines that already have an older .exe installation, test the upgrade path on a small device group before broad deployment.
